Primitive Heat

Those disposable heat packets are very cheap and useful. They contain iron sulphide, I think, and are biodegradable. They can really keep you warm when placed inside of a coat or shoes on a cold day. For the cheap price, buy a few cases. They last many years in storage.

Ponce this is off topic but I have a question that I hope youll answer. I am marinating a Pork Roast in MoJo to be roasted tomorrow night. Along with the Pork Roast I am fixing Black Beans and Yellow Rice with fresh Onions. The only thing missing are the Fried Plantains. Here is my question, How do you fry Plantains? What is the trick? I have tried and tried and I cant get them to come out like the ones I used to get in Tampa. Whats the trick?

Dang, now I feel dumb. Smother in sweet stuff THEN deep fry! That explains the caramelized coating on the ones I remember from Tampa. Ill fix them like that! If your in east Tennessee stop by Saturday around 8:30 thats when well eat! Thanks!

Be sure the bannanas are real ripe and cut them at at 45% angle as you go along...... the riper they are the sweeter they will be when you fry them....... havent had any in seven years....... darn, I do missed my Cuban food.

I think that I'll fly to Miami for a couple of days and gain about 10 lbs by just eating Cuban food....... maybe even take a big cooler and bring back some of it packed in dry ice :frown:
